Variation | ||||||||||||||||||
When two quantities are compared, the increase or decrease in one of the quantities results in a corresponding change in the other quantity, then we say there is a variation between the two quantities. Two types of variations are discussed below. | ||||||||||||||||||
Direct Variation: ↑ | ||||||||||||||||||
When one quantity increases, the other also increases or when one quantity decreases the other also decreases. Then the variation is said to be direct and is denoted by upper arrow head ↑ | ||||||||||||||||||
Indirect variation: ↓ | ||||||||||||||||||
The increase or decrease in one quantity results in a corresponding decrease or increase in other quantity is called indirect variation and its denoted by down arrow head ↓ | ||||||||||||||||||
